Trying out a new lens...Tamron 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD

Yesterday, my new lens arrived.  It was a yippy skippy moment.  I pulled it out and started chasing my cat, Mouse, around the house. She has forgiven me because of copious amounts of dried salmon.

During vacation, I worked on my bird series and found that I missed a huge number of shots.  I just couldn't get close enough. My Nikkor 55-300mm F/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX just didn't make it.  It just didn't have the reach.

These are the first of, hopefully, many shots.  I haven't even begun to put the lens to the test.  The only thing I have figured out is that it's really not a handheld lens.  I guess I'll be pulling out my monopod out.

Stay warm...we are expecting 4-8 inches of snow....
